This guide provides solutions to seven common MicroBT Whatsminer M50 issues.

The Hash Rate Didn’t Reach the Standard

1. The Whatsminer M50 didn’t warm up enough.

Solution: The miner needs a 15–25 minute warm-up period before the hash rate returns to normal.

2. No slot on the hash board.

Reconnect the cable at both ends of the hash board, then start the Whatsminer M50.

3. Zero hash rate.

Reconnect the cables at both ends of the hash board, then start the Whatsminer M50.

4. PSU connect failure.

The hostname row will display the following status if the PSU control wire is improperly connected.

The Whatsminer M50 Restarted Due to Abnormal Status

1. a malfunctioning power supply unit.

If the power supply is unstable or the PSU fans are not functioning, switch to a different PSU and restart the miner.

2. Heat buildup on the Whatsminer

Reconnect the PSU and work to make the mining facility’s cooling system more efficient.

The control board’s errors status is shown below.

3. (P3 is supplying 2150W +/- 5%) Power supply system instability is the cause.

a. Please verify that the voltage falls within the range of 176-264V when the miner is operating.

b. The total power capacity of the facility won’t be exceeded by the power used by all the miners.

4. Low hash rate forces a restart of the miner

Reconnect the cable on the hash board to prevent connection failure.

The events listed below are anomalous.

The Whatsminer M50 Can Not Search IP Address (when Using Whatsminer Tool)

1. Verify whether the computer in use is connected to the same network as the miners.

2. Check the signal LED for abnormal status.

a. Network port signal: yellow is always on, while green is flickering.

b. Restart the miner, and re-search the IP address

c. Reset the miner (press the “RESET” button over 3 second, until red-green light flickering). Repeat your IP address search after that.

d. Check the miner control board to see if the previous control board is still operational.

3. Verify that the router’s DHCP function is turned on.

Allow the miner to automatically acquire IP.

4. Button found broken by miner IP.

Normal hash rate, but Miner’s backend is inaccessible.

Use the most recent firmware update as a fix.

The Whatsminer M50 Fans Failure

1. There is no fan operation at all.

a. Turn off the power, reconnect the cable to the fans, and then double-check.

b. Verify to see if the mesh shell has caught the fans. (The fans noise will be extremely large)

c. Replace the other fans and check again.

2. In the control panel, the fan speed is unusual.

Using a miner as an example, imagine fans spinning at a speed of over 6000 rpm. the control panel does not display RPM.

a. Reconnect the cable to the fans after cutting the power.

b. To ascertain whether the control board or fans are damaged, swap out the control board.

The Whatsminer M50Control Board Signal Always on Or OFF

1. Verify the status of the control board.

a. Verify the 176-264V range for the power supply voltage.

b. Make sure the signal light is on and only turn on the control board.

(Note: if signal is not on, please change a PSU and retry)

c. Turn on each hash board and see if they can all obtain IP addresses.

2. Signal always ON.

a. Get a reader and some SD cards (at least 1GB) to initialize the cards; we’ll send you a mirror of the file.

b. To override the miner’s file, use the SD card. The signal will stop if it works.

c. Restart the miner after turning off the power and removing the SD card.

Router’s IP Address Quantity Not Enough

Say the client has 101 miners, for instance. The IP addresses assigned to routers by default are no100 to no199. (There will be an IP address conflict in one miner (totaling 100 IP addresses). Due to this, some miners will be unable to obtain IP addresses.

Change the IP pool range in the DHCP server (we advise setting it to 2254). After saving, get a new IP address.

Attention

Before removing any cables, please turn off the power.
